Like many of us, I have been dreading 30. During the last 2 years, I've put difficult goals on myself to accomplish before 30 or told myself there were certain things to do before 30. Then I searched the internet to find advice as to where I should be at age 30 and what to expect throughout 30. According to some articles I'm ahead of the game because I've found the ability to truly embrace my happiness, love and accept myself, but then according to other benchmarks, I haven't made the “30 year old success cut” because I'm not married, don't have kids and my retirement bank account isn’t where it needs to be. What I didn't find on the internet is a one stop shop for women in their 30s, a community of 30 something changing the tone of being 30 something.
6 months before my 30th birthday, I decided to create my own guide to 30 while I document my successes and failures written in a way that guides and relates to women in their 30s. I wanted to create a judge-free zone of what I think 30s looks like paired with the redefinition of what it means to be in your 30s. Just because we have entered a new decade doesn't mean all of the stars have to be aligned or we have to accomplish what 30 year old women accomplished in our parent’s generation. Everyone wants different things so we shouldn't set heavy, unrealistic goals for 30, rather do exactly what makes us happy. What I love so much about our generation and these times is that we don't stand for stereotypes and we can break the mold and redefine what it means to be a woman in her 30s. By creating this blog I'm putting my best advice and tips out there as I discover and learn what it takes to be 30 myself. I'm using Guide to 30 as a tool to embrace 30 and everything that makes 30 great, as well as discussing the tough things that we may experience based on situations we are likely to encounter when we get older.
I'm grateful I've made it this far and i'm showing my gratitude by becoming determined to make these years the best, most positive years yet. Will you join me on this journey?
